WELLNESS
Psychiatrists provide on-going medication management to determine the use and review of medication (including over-the-counter medications). Reviews include an interview with the individual to determine:
o the effectiveness of the medication treatment;
o appropriateness of the medication, as determined by the individual’s preferences and satisfaction;
o the presence of side effects, unusual effects or contraindications;
o review of physiological symptoms, including indications of pregnancy;
o assessment of abnormal involuntary movements, utilizing the AIMS, for antipsychotic pharmacotherapy;
o use of multiple simultaneous medications;
o medication interactions;
o special dietary needs and / or restrictions associated with the medication(s).
o When necessary, laboratory studies, tests or other procedures.
